Ivan: Today, sport is very popular in Russia.

Correspondent: What games do you play at school?

Ivan: During PE classes, we play football, basketball and volleyball. Students also do many different exercises that help them to keep fit. In winter, schools organise skiing competitions.

Speaker 1: All my friends like the summer holidays best, but I believe that the winter holidays are the best. They are incredible, arent they? Lots of celebrations, lots of greeting cards and lots of fun. Its a magical time when families get together, have special meals, enjoy presents and nicely decorated trees. Im sure both children and grown-ups enjoy this holiday best.

Speaker 2: Yesterday, we had a wonderful day. We went to the centre of town to support my mum, who took part in an unusual race. The rules were quite strict: to run as fast as possible with a frying pan in your hand. Its not easy, is it? My mum didnt win the race, but she wasnt upset. We enjoyed the funny race and the party after it.

Speaker 3: I like this autumn celebration. I think its only celebrated in Britain. At the beginning of November there are several evenings of colourful fireworks all over the country. We usually go to the country with my uncles family and have a nice party. We make a big fire, cook special food like sausages and jacket potatoes and, of course, set off fireworks.

Speaker 4: Its a very busy celebration for me, really. My little brother just draws a picture of flowers, but I have to clean the house, help my father to prepare a special dinner and then put all the dishes into the dishwasher. I usually get very tired in the evening. But Mum is happy to have a rest and get flowers and chocolates, and Im happy to please her.

Linda: Yes. Its a present for Sam. Dont you remember? Hes going to have a birthday party on Saturday. Were both going to be there, arent we?

Tom: Yes. But I havent chosen a present for Sam yet. What game have you bought for him?

Linda: "Travelling under water": lots of incredible adventures, friendships with a dolphin and a blue whale, a fight with ugly sharks and funny stories from an octopus.

Tom: Sounds really interesting. Do you think that Sam is fond of the underwater world?

Linda: Yes, I do. Hes going to be a marine biologist. He has got a big aquarium which is full of colourful fish.

Tom: Really? Wow! Ive got an idea. I could buy a nice little turtle or an interesting book about Jacques Yves Cousteaus adventures with colourful photos in it. I have just seen a book like that upstairs.

Linda: I dont think a turtle is a good idea. Keeping a pet is a great responsibility. Youd have to speak to Sam first. Lets leave that idea for next year. I think the book is perfect.

Tom: All right. Lets go to the bookshop upstairs. Ill buy the present and then we can go to the cinema. Theres a new adventure film about a contemporary Robinson Crusoe. Have you seen it?

Linda: Not yet.
