Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland - Урок 2 - GETTING AROUND

Цель: способствовать развитию навыков чтения, аудирования и говорения.

Оборудование: иллюстрации по теме урока; копии текста песни с заданием.

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент

— Good morning, boys and girls! (Good morning, teacher!)

— How are you?

— Let’s check to see who is here.

II. Актуализация знаний

1. Работа с песней

— Today we’re going on to read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I’d like to start the lesson with a song. Listen to the song and say what character is singing it.

(Ученики слушают аудиозапись песенки I’m Late и отвечают на вопрос: The White Rabbit is singing it.

Учитель раздает копии текста песни с заданием.)

— Listen to the song again and fill in the missing words.

(Ученики слушают аудиозапись и вписывают пропущенные слова, затем проверяют свои ответы по тексту песни в книге для чтения на с. 38.)

I’m late, I’m late, I’m late.

2. Проверка домашнего задания

— You were to read the passage about the author’s life on page 4 and answer the questions. Let’s run through your answers quickly.

(Ученики отвечают на вопросы из задания The author, с. 30.

Keys: 1 — Lewis Carroll wrote Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. 2 — His real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. 3 — He was born on the 27th of January, 1832 in Daresbury, Cheshire, England. 4 — There were eleven children in his family. 5 — He enjoyed doing magic tricks, putting on puppet shows and writing poems. 6 — He went to Rugby School. 7 — His hobby was photography. 8 — She was a girl to whom Charles used to read stories. 9 — They began as stories Charles used to tell to the Liddell girls. 10 — He died on the 14th of January, 1898 in Guildford, Surrey, England.

Background

1 — Charles Dodgson loved children. 2 — Lorina, Edith and Alice were sisters. 3 — Charles and a friend went rowing on the River Thames with the Liddell girls. 4 — Alice wanted a story with “nonsense” in it. 5 — Alice asked Charles to write the story of Alice’s adventures for her. 6 — Charles Dodgson published Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in 1865. 7 — The story is one of the most popular in the world.

Keys: 1 — She finds a tiny door behind the curtain. 2 — She can’t fit / go through the tiny door. 3 — She becomes small. 4 — She grows and grows until her head hits the celling. 5 — She is once again too big to fit through the door.

После этого ученики обсуждают вопросы из упр. 4 на с. 31 (Episode 2) сначала в парах, а затем все вместе.

Предполагаемые ответы:

— I don’t think it’s a good idea to eat and drink strange things because you don’t know what they are or what can happen to you.

— I think Alice isn’t happy.

— When you are very small, you can’t reach things that you want. When you are very tall, you can reach everything.

— Another title for this episode could be Alice Becomes Trapped.

— I think Alice will find another way out of the room.)

Episode 3

— Read the title of Episode 3 and look at the pictures on pages 12 and 13. How are they related? (In the pictures we can see a room filled with water. This water is Alice’s tears because she’s crying.)

(Ученики читают подзаголовки в упр. 2 (с. 32) и высказывают свои предположения.

Предполагаемый ответ:

Alice cries because she can’t get out of the room. Her tears fill the room. She meets the rabbit again and he helps her become small. They swim in the pool of tears.

Затем ученики читают текст в сопровождении аудиозаписи и проверяют свои ответы. После этого учащиеся обсуждают вопросы из упр. 4 (с. 32) в парах, а затем все вместе проверяют ответы.

Предполагаемые ответы:

— I think Alice is confused because she gets small but can’t reach the key. Then she grows too big and can’t get out of the room. Alice feels scared and angry because she falls into a pool of her tears.

— Alice and the creatures will probably swim to the shore and get out of the room.)

— At home listen and read Episode 3 again, then do Exercise 3.

Episode 4

— Look at the pictures on pages 14 and 15 and answer my questions.

(Учитель задает вопросы из упр. 1 (с. 32).

Keys: 1 — The animals are running along the shore. 2 — Alice is happy that she is out of the room. 3 — The animals are looking at Alice as if they are upset with her. 4 — She is surprised that the animals are unhappy with her.

Затем ученики читают заголовок и отвечают на вопросы из упр. 2 (с. 32).

Предполагаемые ответы:

The animals run a race to dry off. The race is strange because it is a strange way to dry off.

Ученики читают текст в сопровождении аудиозаписи и проверяют свои ответы.)

— At home listen and read Episode 4 again, then do Exercise 3. Get ready to discuss the questions in Exercise 4.

(Учитель записывает домашнее задание на доске, а ученики — в дневниках:

Reader: Episode 3, Ex. 3 (р. 32); Episode 4, Ex. 3, 4 (p. 32).)
